Alexis & John - Chesterton, Indiana - Running Vines Winery

I was so excited to meet Alexis & John. We had many conversations over the phone and just clicked instantly. Knowing wedding planning had been a very interesting time for them, I was so grateful they booked with me. I loved getting to know them and their sweet daughter. <3
I have said it time and time again but the best thing to come out of 2020 and covid was small elopements. Its something that I really and truly hope we can hold onto.

Gabby & Jon - Meyers Castle - Wedding

This was my first time at Meyers castle and it DID not disappoint. Gabby made sure to have ALL the details. We all know how much I live for wedding details.
Gabby & Jon did things a bit more traditional and opted out of a first look! What they did do is a sweet vow reading, back to back. It was THE sweetest. Yes first looks are so fun and it helps your tog move the day along better.. but these are sweet pictures. <3
I cant wait to come back to Meyers Castle for another wedding soon!

Melissa & Marty - County Line Orchard - Hobart, Indiana

Melissa & Marty had one heck of a time getting to this day… but once they did.. everything was PERFECT!
They were originally an allure on the lake couple. Then covid hit. BUT they made it and they are married and their day was the BEST.
I truly love these guys more than anything. They treated Caitlynn and I like family. We had such a blast with their family and bridal parties!
Melissa has become a really good friend, and I have loved our margarita & taco dates.

Hannah & Cameren - LaPorte Indiana - Wedding

Hannah & Cameren were two people I clicked with right away at our consult last year.
My father in law works with Cameren and told me he’s not much of a talker… well, at our meeting he talked up a storm…. You could tell that he just adores Hannah, and WHO WOULDNT? I mean by the end of our first meeting I could see myself becoming GOOD friends with Hannah. Hannah is the sweetest soul, and these two were just made for each other.
Hannah & Cameren both said no matter what happened with COVID, they would get married and they SURE did. They told me a little secret before their day, and I was so excited they were able to announce it with these photos! :)
I can not wait to see these two again soon. They are my favorite people. <3

B&C Wedding - Arizona

Weddings are my. jam. We all know this. A wedding in Arizona? EVEN BETTER. Thank you Liz, for the opportunity and taking me on the trip of a lifetime. Not only did we get to take some amazing wedding photos, we even went on a hot air balloon ride! <3 Those pictures will bet in the next blog post…

So here is the overload B&C’s wedding images…

Karessa & Austin - The Red Barn Experience - LaPorte, Indiana

The forecast said it was going to rain all day during Karessa & Austin’s wedding day. It drizzled in the morning, then again in the afternoon, then quit! It was perfect! Perfect day for a perfect couple! I was looking forward to their wedding, because their engagement session was so fun and they were naturals in front of the camera.

We pulled them out for golden hour, we waited, and waited for the sun to pop under the clouds and it just took forever. SO we walked back to the dance floor, about to start their first dance, when Austin ran back and said “the sun came back out! We should go now!” - and boy. was it worth it…

Their day was filled with good luck rain, love, and beer. Best day ever!

The Importance of Golden Hour - On Your Wedding Day

AH! Your wedding day. Your timeline is packed, you have tons of portraits scheduled for the day. First look, family formals, bridal party, and of course getting ready shots! - But dont forget to add some time for golden hour portraits!

I always always always, will stress how important it is to leave at most, 15 minutes in your wedding day timeline for golden hour portraits. I know, your groom is over photos, he just wants to eat. You want to go mingle with people and maybe grab a drink. There will be TONS of time for that after the sun goes down.
I promise you, you want these photos.

What is golden hour? - Golden hour is my favorite time of day! About an hour before sunset, you can see the light casting a very beautiful golden light on you skin, thats what we photographers will look for! Which is why I only hold sessions (family, maternity, etc) about an hour before sunset because the light is so beautiful. I want the same thing for you on your wedding day!
I will say, my golden hour images from my own wedding, are all over my house. Those are my favorite images besides the ceremony images.

Here are some golden hour images from one of my favorite weddings this year. Karla & Francisco were GAME for golden hour images. - We spent over 30 minutes outside. The sun went behind the clouds and BAM right before we went back inside, the sun poked down underneath the clouds and put on a show for us. <3

Kristy & Ezra - September 1st - Fair Oaks, Indiana

OOOOH Kristy and Ezra….. I loved your wedding day. The ceremony? Beautiful. Your reception space. Even more beautiful.
I loved Ezra’s goofy smile and Kristy’s face when she looked at herself in the mirror all decked out in her wedding dress and jewelry.
I can’t say enough good things about this wedding. I just cant talk anymore, here are their gorgeous images.

Morgan & Devlin - May 27th - The Pavilion at Sandy Pines

y'all now how much I love Sandy Pines right? The natural light in the bridal house is one of my favorite things about this venue. So when Morgan said that she was getting married at Sandy Pines, I about fell over. A spring wedding at sandy pines? I was IN. When we got together for their engagement session I loved how Devlin would look at Morgan, right then I was super excited for their wedding day. <3

Larisa & Josh - May 26th - The Mora Farm

Larisa & Josh were married on May 26th. Memorial Day weekend. it was HOT, HOT, HOT! I felt like I was melting so I'm sure the groomsmen were melting too!
I absolutely loved all of the details Larisa had. She was super detail oriented! We all know how much Loryn loves her details.
The Mora Farm was a new venue for me, and it didn't disappoint.
I loved every single minute of this wedding. Which is why there are so many pictures :)

Breanna & Nick - July 22nd - The Pavilion at Sandy Pines

When I met Breanna and Nick for the first time, I knew these people would have a special place in my heart. I absolutely loved getting to know them from their first consolation, to their wedding day. These two were made for each other and I can't wait to see what the future holds for them. July weddings are normally pretty warm. Well, their day was incredibly warm. The humidity was ridiculous. Sandy Pines is for sure one of my favorite venues in the area. I mean. Look how beautiful it is?? Any time of year this place I just breathtaking.

I was so happy when Bre and Nick decided to have a first look. I knew Nick's reaction was going to be pretty hilarious. He's not a crier, and thats okay, but I didn't know he would giggle the whole time! The pictures speak for themselves on that one. At the end of the evening, the newlyweds had a special gift to their friends and family, a firework show! AND sparklers. I mean, how cool is that?? Some of my favorite wedding images of the year are in here!

Calli & John - June 17th - Fair Oaks Farm

Calli & John were married back in June. It was one of the hotter days we had in June and I thought we were all going to melt. There was a breeze. A hot breeze... Bugs. *so* many bugs. All day long. BUT these two were troopers. I absolutely loved John's reaction to Calli during their first look. I love when the groom's show some emotion too!!
Fair Oaks is one of my favorite venues... Not only is it beautiful but the staff is amazing.
Surrounded by their friends and family they were married and it was beautiful. I was even emotional during parts of the day. Cant forget about the "shoe" game. I cant wait to play this at my own wedding!! Thanks John & Calli for having me as your photographer! I enjoyed you both so much!

Sarah & Matt - June 4th - Ogden Gardens

What do you do when your little sister gets married? You cry. Like a baby. All day. And try to hold up your Maid of Honor duties, and photographer duties. I didn't do too bad. Until my dad saw my sister in her dress for the first time. I lost it. Like flat out ugly cried. I have an incredible second shooter that was able to shoot most of the wedding while I was actually in the wedding. I got to take a few images though. Ugh. My little sister is married... Thank you Liz for capturing the images of Matt and the ceremony for me!

Nina & Greg - June 3rd - Crown Point Courthouse & Lighthouse Restaurant

Oh Nina & Greg. What a fun day we had. They have a very unique personality. BOTH OF THEM! HAH!

Nina was nervous while getting ready. She held it together and handled the problems with the limo like a champ. She just rode with her photographers!
The ceremony was beautiful and I know that she breathed a sigh of relief after and the party began!
So many laughs were shared and it was a beautiful, but hot June day.

Bree & Beau - Fair Oaks Farm - Fair Oaks Indiana

OH my gosh. The first wedding of 2017 was a struggle. It was cold, I had the flu, and lets be real my nerves were through the roof. I was worried with it being a 10 hour wedding I wouldn't make it. I had a fever of 100.3 and no motivation. That being said, these are THE BEST WEDDING PHOTOS I HAVE EVER TAKEN! So there's that. I loved, loved, loved everything about Bree and Beau's day. They both looked fantastic, and their family accepted Liz and I with no problem. The day was a breeze, flu and all. I am so excited I was their wedding photographer and could not have asked for a better day. Well I guess I could have dealt without the flu, but you know, it worked!!

Lindsay & Greg - Friendship Gardens I Michgian City

This wedding pulled at my heart strings a bit. Upon arriving, Lindsay informed me her grandma was sick and she wasn't sure if she'd make it to the ceremony. Having lost my grandma just a few years ago, I knew what it meant for Lindsay to have her grandma there. Yet the mood was still upbeat and we made the most of it while getting ready. 20 minutes before the ceremony we got word grandma would make it to the ceremony. We did have to wait on the ceremony for an extra 30 minutes but it was the worth the wait. So many emotions surrounded people throughout the day. I have to say it will be one of my most favorite wedding's of 2016. Even down to Lindsay dancing with her grandpa at the reception. It was pure bliss. Thank you Lindsay and Greg for having me as your wedding photographer.
